New Building (1959)

The exterior of the new $350,000 building for the Capper Foundation for Crippled Children at 3500 West  10th is almost completed and the open house is tentatively planned for late this year or early 1959. The 18-room building will offer an expanded program of physical, occupational and speech therapy as well as an academic program. The present building at Third and Fillmore will be sold after the change is completed.

Special Note: As this article briefly mentions, beginning when the current Capper Foundation Topeka location was built, academic classrooms for USD 501 kindergarten through high school ages were provided as a special purpose school from 1959 to 1996. This took place in addition to therapy and other services offered by the foundation.
