Summary:

The primary function of the Facilities Technician is to perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain facility equipment for all residential sites supported by Capper Foundation in order to maintain standards of product quality. The Facilities Technician is responsible for determining work methods, tools and materials needed for routine assignments.

 

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Performs general maintenance and repairs on all residential properties.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs on facility equipment during work hours and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of facility on an annual basis.
  • Performs simple maintenance duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintains the property grounds, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Assesses maintenance orders for repair or replacement.
  • Performs carpentry using power tools such as drills, saws and sanders.
  • Installs, repairs and maintains electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances and other related systems.
  • Determines materials, equipment and supplies needed to complete orders.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, efficiency and cost effectiveness on maintenance issues.
  • Respects all Capper Foundation property and resources and the property of those supported.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance services.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces, repairs and tests parts, makes adjustments as needed.
  • During inclement weather shovels snow, salts icy patches, etc.
  • Installs, moves, repairs and removes equipment and furnishings into and out of residential facilities.
  • Contacts outside maintenance contractors.
  • Attends meetings with supervisor at least weekly.
  • Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
  • Performs various clean up and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years in a maintenance role preferred.
  • Must be able to perform carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, equipment repair, painting, grounds keeping and janitorial duties.
  • Must be familiar with and be able to use all hand tools and power tools common to the position and be well versed in appropriate disciplines and use of tools.
  • Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
  • Must work in a team environment.
  • Read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Possess valid Kansas driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Able to pass background checks per Capper Foundation procedures.
